History
Saint Ann Catholic School opened in September of 1960, six years after Saint Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett became a parish. Father Leonard Oglesby, the first pastor, who was a former teacher himself, procured the services of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Kentucky to open an elementary school at Saint Ann. In August of the same year, Sister Mary Thomas became principal of Saint Ann. Two other Sisters of Charity and two lay teachers opened the school to 150 students in grades 1 through 8.
Throughout the years, additions and changes have been made to the original structure to accommodate the growth of the Bartlett and surrounding communities. The school facility consists of 30 classrooms, library, computer and science labs, art room, music and band rooms, LIFE (resource) room, SPARKS (gifted) room, out-door classroom, two gymnasiums, full-service cafeteria and administrative office. The school was led from 1960-1982 by principals from the religious order of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Kentucky: Sister Mary Thomas Lawrence, Sister Constance Mueller and Sister Marie Ann Ballard. In 1982, Mrs. Peggy Fiveash became the first lay principal.
